Dr. Labanya Mazumdar, Former Dean, College of Home Science, Assam Agricultural University has contributed to her profession at different universities, various state, regional and national level academic forums, selection committee, etc. She has the honour of being nominated as member of curriculum development committee of Indian Council of Agricultural Research and University Grant Commission level Review team, Task Force, Scientific Panel; All India Handloom Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Board of Management,Central Agricultural University, Imphal. Dr. Mazumdar is instrumental in undertaking comprehensive ethnographic and techno-cultural study of textiles as an indigenous craft of this region, considering the rich heritage of textiles among different ethnic groups in the light of the socio-cultural significance. Her consultancy service covers
entrepreneurship development in the area of handloom textiles, value addition to indigenous textiles, its revival, preservation of traditional designs with unique features and transformation of such designs to diversified products of contemporary trends.
